First Meeting of 2014-15 School Year for Scholarship Students

Scholarship & Mentoring Program

The Carnival Scholarship and Mentoring Program started the 2014-15 school year with a visit to Carnival’s headquarter offices in September. The visit was the first for the new freshman students who were welcomed into the program. Fun Ship Freddy was on hand to greet the kids as they connected with their mentors, many meeting them for the first time.

First Class of Scholarship Students Graduate from College

Scholarship & Mentoring Program

In 2010, Carnival Foundation awarded 15 students in the Carnival Scholarship and Mentoring Program with a four-year college scholarship purchased from the Florida Prepaid College Foundation. They were the first class of students to receive the scholarship, and four years later the recipients are starting to graduate from college. Congrats!

Carnival Kids Program: Emerson Elementary

Partners

This spring, the students of Emerson Elementary School were visited by Zoo Miami’s Ron Magill’s who brought along some furry friends to show the kids. The students then took a trip to Everglades National Park where they were able to get up close to the unique environment and its flora and fauna.

End-of-Year Visit for Scholarship Students

Scholarship & Mentoring Program

The Carnival Scholarship and Mentoring Program students had their final visit to the Carnival headquarters for the last time during the 2013-14 school year. During the morning activities, seniors received their completion certificates, gave moving speeches and honored their mentors. Students with the highest GPAs from all grades got an exciting selection HEAT prizes, including signed jerseys and basketballs signed by the entire team. Good luck to all graduating seniors!

NBA Star Ray Allen

Seeing Stars

Miami HEAT basketball player Ray Allen gave an inspirational talk to the students of the Carnival Scholarship and Mentoring Program during their school-to-work visit to the HEAT offices. Allen spoke about working hard and reaching for your best to succeed in life. He told the students his life path and how important it is to choose the right people to be in your life and make the right decisions.

During their school-to-work event, students of the Carnival Scholarship and Mentoring Program ventured from Carnival’s headquarters to visit the HEAT offices. Here they got to meet the HEAT dancers, pose with the NBA championship trophies and sit at the mic in the press conference room. Everyone had a great time!

Scholarship & Mentoring Program

This year Carnival Foundation awarded 16 students in the Carnival Scholarship and Mentoring Program with a four-year college scholarship purchased from the Florida Prepaid College Foundation. For the 2014 recipients, Carnival Corporation Chairman Micky Arison, Miami HEAT retired star and current Vice President of Player Programs Alonzo Mourning, and Miami-Dade Superintendent of Schools Alberto Carvalho were on hand at half-time during the HEAT basketball game to congratulate the students.

R.O.C.K. Camp Send-Off

Special Events

Carnival Foundation sponsored a group of special kids battling cancer so they could attend the American Cancer Society’s R.O.C.K. Camp at Boggy Creek. The campers were sent off for their weeklong adventure in style with a special Hawaiian-themed breakfast at the Carnival headquarters. Carnival President and CEO Gerry Cahill and FunShip Freddy were on-hand to wish them well.

Dolphin Cycling Challenge

Carnival Foundation was a supporting partner of the Dolphins Cycling Challenge. Carnival Cruise Lines employees participated in the event that benefits the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
