Carnival’s ‘Relay for Life’ Raises Over $196,000 for American Cancer Society

MIAMI (Oct. 8, 2015) — Carnival Cruise Line and Carnival Foundation together raised $196,484 at the “Relay for Life” charity event to benefit the American Cancer Society Friday, Sept. 25, 2015. Carnival Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Carnival Corporation & plc, donated $75,000 in matching funds and Carnival Cruise Line employees raised an additional $121,484 in donations.

The relay, which was held at Carnival’s headquarters in Doral, Florida, started at 12:30 p.m. and ended at 8 p.m., and featured Carnival employees and cancer survivors walking laps continuously to fulfill sponsorships.

Highlights of the event included music courtesy of celebrity DJ Irie, the official DJ of the three-time NBA World Champion Miami HEAT and Carnival Cruise Line, a visit by Dr. Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat” and Burnie, mascot of the Miami HEAT National Basketball Association team, as well as other special guests and a live band.
